In the Pegasus Galaxy the UGI were testing a new power source to minuturize and the results were catostrophic. They literally destroyed half the planet, the other half was habitable. It was a non-radioactive powersource that was small enough to put on a pistol. This was to give the soldiers a weapon with a weapon that could literally shoot down Thunderclaps.
