The United Federation of Planets is what the UGI calls a Tier Beta society. They pride themselves in exploration, diplomacy and honor as a whole.

The government of the Federation is quite intresting as it is not only a democracy of planets that span most of the Alpha Quadrant, it is more intresting that they pride themselves on exploration and diplomacy more than war and defense.
